Because most hot tubs and marble baths have wall thicknesses up to 1.5" or 40mm (the vast majority of spa jets which are designed for 3-15mm thick acrylic spa shells), they require specially built jets with extended threaded wall fittings. Unfortunately, availability and variety of these jets is declining with the increased popularity of acrylic portable spas.
